Matthaios Hapidis is an economist, a graduate of the Department of Economic Sciences of the University of Athens, and holds an M.Sc. in International Trade and Finance (1991) from Lancaster University, UK. In addition, he holds the professional qualifications Diploma in International Financial Reporting by ACCA (2006) and Advanced Diploma in International Taxation (ADIT) by the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) (2023). Since 2000, he has been working at the Directorate of Direct Tax Implementation of the Independent Public Revenue Authority (AADE), where he is responsible for drafting tax provisions and giving opinions on issues related to direct taxation, while since March 2020 he has been working as Head of the Legal Entities Department. Previously, from 1994 to 2000, he worked in the audit department at Pricewaterhousecoopers.
She has been involved in adult education (2004 - up to date) in the area of direct taxation and accounting in various institutions (National Centre for Public Administration and Self-Government ("EKDDA"), Tax and Customs Academy of the AADE (FO.TA), Athens University of Economics and Business, Economic Chamber, Private Adult Education Centres). He has authored several textbooks and notes in the context of training of trainees and has participated as a speaker in conferences and workshops on tax issues. He is fluent in English and participates in committees, in Greece and abroad, as a representative and national expert in the institutions of the European Commission and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
