Dr Alexandros Charalambides holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD from Imperial College London, specialising in controlled auto-ignition engines. His PhD project was funded by Honda R&D Co, Ltd. of Japan. He worked as a postgraduate fellow at Imperial College London and the University of Tokyo and as a research fellow at HydroVenturi Ltd, a company involved in the exploitation of renewable energy from tidal waves. Upon his return to Cyprus, he worked at the Energy Department of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, in the field of energy and since 2009, he has been an Academic at the Cyprus University of Technology. His research interests focus on experimental fluid dynamics and its adaptation to the fields of non-traditional renewable energy systems, as well as on the development of a sound policy in Cyprus to address climate change.
