Athanasios Sakkas is Assistant Professor in Finance at the Department of Accounting and Finance at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). Before joining AUEB, he has served as an Assistant Professor in Finance at the University of Nottingham and Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Finance at the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom (UK). He is also a Fellow of Higher Education Academy (HEA) in the UK. He holds a PhD in Finance from the Athens University of Economics and Business, an MSc in Banking and Financial Management from the University of Piraeus, and an MEng in Mechanical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens. His research interests lie in the areas of empirical asset pricing and investments.
His research work has been presented in several international academic conferences as well as professional organizations and hedge funds. His research has received grant from Amundi Asset Management and award from the INQUIRE UK and the Southern Finance Association (USA). His work has been published in international peer-reviewed academic journals such as, among others, the Journal of Banking & Finance, Journal of Financial Markets, Financial Analysts Journal, European Financial Management and Economics Letters.
