Nikos Vettas is the General Director of the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research -IOBE and a Professor at the Athens University of Economics and Business, where he has served as the Chairman of the Economics Department. He has obtained his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania and has main research expertise in industrial organization. He has been an Associate Professor at Duke University and a visiting Professor at INSEAD. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the European Association for Research in Industrial Economics, Research Fellow at CEPR, and former member of the Hellenic Competition Commission and the Economic Advisory Group for Competition Policy at the European Commission. He is an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Industrial Organization, and a former Associate Editor of the Journal of the European Economic Association and the Journal of Industrial Economics. He is a co-organizer of the annual Conference for Research on Economic Theory and Econometrics since 2003 and co-editor of Beyond Austerity, MIT Press 2017.
