Short Overview
During the course of this program, trainees will be trained in programming with Python.
Learning Goals
1. Knowledge
Describe the fundamental concepts of programming: algorithm, variables, control structures, loops, functions, and data structures.
Identify the basic Python data types and their uses.
Explain the logic of structured thinking and problem solving through algorithmic steps.
Become familiar with libraries such as Turtle and Pygame for creating graphics and games.
2. Skills
Write and execute basic programs in Python.
Create scripts that interact with users through input and output.
Use if/else, loops, and functions to structure their code.
Develop small projects: calculators, games, menu-based applications, story generators.
Manipulate data using lists and strings.
Build simple games with graphics, motion, and scoring systems.
Use tools such as PyCharm (IDE) and notebooks for development and testing.
3. Competences (Metacognitive & Transferable Skills)
Develop algorithmic and computational thinking: break down a problem into smaller steps and build solutions.
Strengthen creativity and imagination through projects and games.
Learn debugging and error-handling strategies with a systematic approach.
Collaborate in teams to create games and projects.
Build confidence in using technology not just as consumers but as creators.
Gain an initial exposure to the university environment, teamwork, and the methodology of higher education.Program Value
For Students
Hack The Python, under the auspices of the Lifelong Learning Center (KEDIVIM) of the Athens University of Economics and Business, offers much more than programming knowledge. At Hack The Python you won’t just see lines of code on a screen -you’ll build games, solve puzzles, and create your own projects using Python, one of the most popular programming languages in the world! You’ll work alongside students and graduates of the Athens University of Economics and Business, who will guide you and share the tricks they use in their own studies. With them, you’ll discover how programmers think: how they break down problems into smaller pieces and find creative solutions. And the best part? You’ll experience university life up close: sit in lecture halls, see what it’s like to learn in a big academic environment, and get a first taste of your own future. By the end, you won’t just know Python -you’ll have developed skills that will help you in all your school subjects and in any path you choose later in life.
For Parents & Educators
Hack The Python, under the auspices of the Athens University of Economics and Business, offers much more than programming knowledge. Students don’t just learn how to code in a popular language; they also develop algorithmic thinking, critical reasoning, and creative problem-solving — essential skills for university studies and the future job market.
In addition to the Scientific Supervisor, the program is taught by students and graduates of the Department of Informatics as well as the Program in Education Sciences at AUEB, offering a unique experience that combines technology with pedagogy.
This is a rare opportunity for students to engage directly with the academic environment of a leading higher education institution and be inspired by the creativity, progress, and innovation of AUEB’s students and alumni. Here, participants gain not only valuable knowledge but also an experience that brings them one step closer to higher education, building a strong foundation for their personal and professional future.
