Short Overview

In today's dynamic business environment, effective management of supply chain operations is crucial. With an increasing frequency of abnormal and emergency situations, firms should make timely decisions to address challenges before they escalate. Recent indicative examples, such as the pandemic, Brexit, and the closure of the Suez Canal, had placed firms in 'uncharted waters,' challenging their sustainability, ability to uphold customer service standards, and fulfil pre-agreed contracts. A modern firm should possess the agility to adapt to changes in its operating environment and maintain a skilled workforce capable of making timely decisions. Both the immediacy and quality of these decisions are pivotal factors for each company to cultivate a competitive advantage, contributing to its sustainability and profitability.

The course “Supply Chain Management” provides a comprehensive presentation of the key aspects related to Supply Chains. It analyses key operations that make up the dynamic operational structures of companies, such as demand forecasting, time and quantity resource planning, supply chain coordination, discounts, and inventory management. The course enhances students' skills in Management Science and decision evaluation. It focuses on issues concerning the design, analysis, planning, optimisation, and operational management of Industrial Construction Companies and Service Provider Companies. Additionally, the course highlights the importance of effective management of the limited resources within these systems.
