Short Overview
The aim of this seminar is for attendees to understand what business writing & speaking involve; to understand the powerful link between reading and writing; to be able to evaluate and analyse business material; to generate ideas; to expand their vocabulary; to draft assignments; to understand fully business style writings that contain a clear thesis, unified & coherent paragraphs & relevant supporting details; to view editing, revising and proofreading as components of the writing process. In addition, the seminar is based on rhetorical skills and practices needed for producing effective business documents and collaborative projects in professional contexts. It is guided by the needs and practices of business professionals, and international societies as well. Emphasis is given to correct grammar and syntax as needed in such settings.
Learning Goals
Upon completion of the program, the trainee will be in the position to:
  • Speak and write ethically & effectively
  • Follow a clear & carefully structured process when presenting his/her points
  • Analyse successfully purpose & audience
Program Value
Attendees will be guided to shape their writing & speaking ethically, for multiple audiences, in a variety of professional situations that are consulted in global business environments. It enhances their presentation skills and supports their speaking confidence.
Weekly Schedule
Lectures take place every Wednesday or Thursday, 6pm to 9pm
Teaching Material
Eclass material (such as notes, overviews, ppt presentations, interviews) and course book.
Evaluation Method And Final Grade Computation
The final grade is the average of the grades of the weekly assignments, an evaluation of the effort made by the trainees in participating in the discussions and exercises taking place after the material is presented, and the grade of the final exam.
Learning Method Description

Trainees can participate in the program in two different ways: with in-classroom participation, or by watching live streaming , using a computer or smart phone at the place of their choice.

The Live Streaming method offers the following advantages:

  • training without geographical restrictions,
  • possibility to ask questions.

Includes training hours with classroom, laboratory, or remote (via live streaming) instruction along with any breaks.

Additional hours of work are included (indicative) and may include individual study, writing assignments, participation in field visits, participation in exams, etc.
Total hours: 60
The total hours include hours of synchronous and asynchronous training, as well as additional hours of employment.
Weeks of training: 8
Weeks in which activities of any kind are planned are included.
Maximum number of absences: 1
Vocational Education and Training Certificate
Trainees who successfully complete the program are granted a Vocational Education and Training Certificate of the Center for Education and Lifelong Learning of the Athens University of Economics and Business, which is accompanied by a Supplement to the Certificate, detailing the subject of the program, the thematic units attended by the trainee , as well as the training methodology followed.

Target Audience
The program is targeted to employees and executives of the public & private sector, especially those that need to improve their English writing & speaking skills, participate in discussions & meetings (multinational communities).
Prerequisite Knowledge
University or College Graduates, holding an English Certification (B2-C2) aw determined by the Supreme Council for Civil Personnel Selection (ASEP).
