Short Overview

The programme "Next Generation of Investments: ETFs and Alternative Investments" provides a structured and comprehensive approach to modern portfolio theory and its practical applications for the individual investor. The curriculum is designed to bridge the gap between fundamental financial principles and advanced investment strategies, without requiring prior specialized knowledge in finance.

The programme begins with the analysis of fundamental concepts, such as the risk-return trade-off, diversification, and the impact of inflation. It then delves into the primary investment tools for the individual, with an emphasis on Mutual Funds and Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), analyzing their structure, selection criteria, and their practical use in constructing a core portfolio.

In its second part, the programme introduces participants to more complex strategies utilized by professional fund managers. Concepts such as "factor investing" (e.g., Value, Growth, Momentum) are examined, while the operation and strategy of Hedge Funds are demystified. Finally, the role of alternative investments, such as commodities, in optimizing diversification is analyzed, and the principles of strategic asset allocation for designing a comprehensive, long-term personal portfolio are presented.

Learning Goals
Upon completion of the program, the trainee will be in the position to:
  • Recognize the fundamental principles of investing, such as the risk-return trade-off, the importance of diversification, and the power of compounding.
  • Determine their personal investment profile and risk tolerance, setting clear and realistic financial goals.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds) to construct a core portfolio, understanding their cost structures and characteristics.
  • Understand the logic behind advanced investment strategies used by professionals, such as factor investing (Value, Growth, Momentum).
  • Design a comprehensive, diversified personal portfolio by applying the principles of strategic asset allocation.
Program Value
The value of the programme lies in the combination of theoretical training on modern investment products and strategies with their practical application in personal portfolio management. Trainees will acquire the necessary analytical skills to evaluate investment tools, such as ETFs, and to understand the structure and function of more complex investment approaches. Upon completion of the programme, they will be able to structure and implement a coherent investment strategy, based on the principles of diversification and strategic asset allocation.
