Short Overview

The programme “Wealth Management: Life-Cycle Financial Planning” offers a comprehensive and practical approach to personal and household financial planning across all stages of life. Drawing on the latest findings from international academic research, it transforms complex theories and scientific models into simple, understandable, and actionable tools for financial decision-making.

Participants will become familiar with fundamental concepts such as the economic life cycle, human and financial capital, intertemporal consumption and saving, wealth accumulation and decumulation, and retirement planning.

The programme demonstrates how decisions regarding employment, consumption, saving, and retirement are interconnected and influence long-term financial well-being. Particular emphasis is placed on the transition from human capital—the ability to generate income through work—to financial capital, enabling participants to effectively plan for the maintenance of their desired standard of living throughout their lifetime.

The educational material includes recorded video lectures, presentation slides, detailed lecture notes, podcasts, and supplementary learning resources, providing a flexible and engaging learning experience. The programme aims to bridge the gap between academic theory and everyday practice by offering participants a scientifically grounded framework for planning their financial journey from the beginning of their professional career through retirement.

Learning Goals
Upon completion of the program, the trainee will be in the position to:
  • Explain the fundamental principles of the life-cycle framework and the role of human capital in wealth creation.
  • Assess the relationship between labour income, saving behaviour, and long-term financial well-being.
  • Apply practical strategies for regularly investing small amounts of money with the objective of building wealth over time.
  • Explain the risks faced by investors over long-term investment horizons.
  • Recognise the challenges associated with the transition to retirement.
  • Develop strategies to manage longevity risk and maintain financial well-being throughout retirement.

Upon successful completion of the programme, participants will acquire the knowledge and practical tools needed to effectively plan their financial journey throughout their life cycle.
