Ioannis Nikolaou is an Occupational/Organizational Psychologist, Professor of Organizational Behavior & Human Resource Management at the Department of Management Science and Technology, former Director of the Graduate Program in Human Resource Management at the Athens University of Economics and Business and Editor-In-Chief of the International Journal of Selection & Assessment. He studied Psychology at the University of Crete and completed his postgraduate studies (MSc, PhD) at the Manchester School of Management (UMIST), UK. He started his professional career at PwC's Human Resources Consulting Department and as Head of Training at Egnatia Bank.
He is the author of the books "Organizational Psychology & Behavior" and "Managing Human Capital - Greek Case Studies" and has edited with Janneke Oostrom the book Employee Recruitment, Selection, and Assessment; Contemporary Issues for Theory and Practice (Routledge/Psychology Press). He has over one hundred (100) publications in peer-reviewed journals, presentations and invited talks in international conferences (e.g. Applied Psychology: An International Review, European Journal of Work and Organizational Psychology, International Journal of Selection and Assessment, Personality & Individual Differences, Journal of Managerial Psychology, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Stress & Health, Personnel Review, etc.).
His research interests focus on the field of Organizational Behavior / Psychology and Human Resource Management and more specifically on the recruitment, selection and evaluation processes of companies and the job search process, with emphasis on the role of technology and the internet. She teaches courses in Organizational Behavior/Psychology and Human Resource Management at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, for which she has been awarded with Teaching Excellence, and has extensive experience in providing consulting services in Human Resources (Sklavenitis, ASEP, PeopleCert, Hellenic Industry House, National Bank, Emporiki Bank, Kantor, Bank of Attica, etc.) and in-house training programs for executives in companies (OAED, Metro, Professional Training, OTE Academy, EFG Eurobank, EFG Eurobank, Misko-Barilla, Intracom, Pfizer, SEAT, Infote, Dodoni, OSE, Metaxa Diagnostics, Lion Hellas, AB Vassilopoulos, etc.) and in-house training programs for executives in companies (OAED, Metro, OTE AcademyEFG Eurobank, Misko-Barilla, Intracom, Pfizer, SEAT, Infote, Dodoni, OSE, Metaxa Diagnostics, Lion Hellas, AB Vassilopoulos, etc.).
He was a member (2013-2017) of the Executive Committee of the European Association of Work and Organizational Psychology (EAWOP) and co-founded the European Network of Selection Researchers (ENESER) and the NGO Job-Pairs (http://www.job-pairs.gr), which aims to help university graduates "find their way" through mentoring with experienced executives. Finally, he is a member of several scientific organizations, such as the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, the European Association of Work and Organizational Psychology, the European Network of Organizational Psychologists and the Hellenic Psychological Society (where he was co-coordinator of the Branch of Work and Organizational Psychology 2011-2017).
