George Chalamandaris is Associate Professor in the Accounting and Finance department of Athens University of Economics and Business. Having graduated from the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of NTUA, he continued his postgraduate studies at Imperial College (London), where he completed the MSc program in Control Systems and his PhD dissertation in Quantitative Finance. His research interests lie in the field of financial markets, with a special focus in those of the derivatives and fixed-income markets, as well as in machine learning applications for the assessment of investment strategies.
He has published in prestigious academic journals of the field such as Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Empirical Finance, Journal of International Money and Finance, Quantitative Finance, and European Journal of Finance, among other. His research has been presented in more than 30 refereed conferences and has received a significant number of citations. Dr Chalamandaris has participated in the organization committee of numerous conferences, while he also contributed 5 articles to collective volumes. Prior to his appointment to the University, he worked in the field of Financial Markets as risk analyst, trader and structurer, both in the City of London (Natwest Markets) and in Greece (Investment Bank, Eurobank).
