Saitis Efthymios

General Director of Human Resources and Organization, Independent Authority for Public Revenue

Efthymios Saitis holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Athens University of Economics and Business and a Master's degree in "Public Economics and Policy" from the Technological Educational Institute of Piraeus and has worked as an independent economist and also as head of accounting. Since 1992 he has been serving at the Ministry of Finance, holding main positions, as Head of Code of Accounting Books and Records Department and since August 2015, as Head of the Directorate for the Implementation of Direct Taxation.

In March 2017 was appointed as General Director of Tax Administration at the Independent Authority of Public Revenue and since July 2020 he is serving as General Director of Human Resources and Organization. He has participated as a member in committees such as the Accounting Committee, the Committee concerning the issues for the implementation of the single European currency, the Committee of the Code of Accounting Books and Records’ revision, Transfer pricing, the Committee for the assurance of the validity of books, the Committee for the reform of the Economic Crimes Enforcement Agency, as a member of the working group for the institutionalization of new provisions regarding bookkeeping and data issuance and accounting standardization and, also, as a member of a permanent committee for the implementation and evaluation of the Greek Accounting Standards. He has participated as a lecturer in numerous tax training seminars for individuals, associations, institutions, as well as in seminars of the Economic Chamber of Greece and he is a collaborator/lecturer of the Vocational Training and Lifelong Learning Center of the Athens University of Economics and Business. He is the author of the Hellenic Republic’s Code of Accounting Books and Records codification, published in four editions, which has been broadly used by Greek companies as a guide to resolve relevant issues on a daily basis.
