Asterios Pliakos is Professor Emeritus of European Law at the Department of International and European Economic Studies of the University of Economics and Business, where he continues to teach the course "European Law" and, within the framework of the Department's Postgraduate Programmes, the courses "European Union Law", "European Environmental Law" and "European Energy Law". At the same time, he is scientific director at the Greek Parliament, where he contributes to the control of the compatibility of the bills passed with European Union Law, in particular with the Directives relating to the integration of the European internal market. His research interests focus on EU institutional and substantive law, in particular on the internal market, competition, fundamental rights and judicial protection. He has published numerous books and articles, in French, Greek and English, many of which have appeared in leading international journals in the field, such as the Columbia Journal of European Law, Common Market Law Review, European Law Review, Cahiers de Droit Europeen, Revue Trimestrielle de Droit Europeen, Revue du Droit de l'Union europeenne. He has recently published the book "European Energy Law". He is the scientific director of the new, from 2019, journal "European Law" (published by Legal Library).
