Short Overview
The program will be organized in collaboration with the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UNSDSN - https://www.unsdsn.org/) and provides the essential theoretical and practical foundation for professionals in the field of sustainable development, enabling them to integrate the relevant principles of sustainable development into their daily practice during the decision-making process in areas related to sustainable , inclusion and inequality, and systemic as well as critical, methodological thinking. Thematic modules will address pillars of sustainable development such as energy decarbonization and sustainable industry, ecosystem life on land and in water, the fight against poverty and hunger, sustainable cities and communities, sustainable digital transformation, and systemic stakeholder management and communication methodologies. These pillars are guided by two principles: a. the “leaving no one behind” strategy, and b. the circular economy. This seminar will provide training on creating development plans for each of the six pillars of the sustainable transition, while principles a and b will collectively guide these development plans. These development plans form the basis for securing funding (from EU, national, private, and other sources) for the transition to sustainability. It should be noted that the European Green Deal commits more than 1 trillion euros to its implementation.
Learning Goals
Upon Successful completion, the program offers:
  • An understanding of the sustainable development model and its practical significance for the environment, the economy, business, and society.
  • pecific techno-economic knowledge for each pillar of sustainable development.
  • An understanding of the various dimensions of sustainable development (economic, legal, technological, political, and social).
  • Understanding the United Nations 2030 Agenda, the European Green Deal, the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, and the new framework they establish for the economy and production.
  • Familiarization with the modern tools required for the design of sustainable development strategies and actions within the context of private and public entities as well as civil society organizations. Specifically, the development of implementation plans for sustainable pillars guided by the values of circularity and “Leaving no one behind”.
