Short Overview

The course "Introduction to ERP Systems (SAP S/4 HANA & Microsoft Dynamics 365)" develops end-user skills in the SAP S/4 HANA & Microsoft Dynamics 365 environments. Trainees have the opportunity for individual access (hands-on experience) in the SAP S/4 HANA environment (via Fiori interface and GUI) and the Microsoft Dynamics 365 environment, simulating real business scenarios. Emphasis is placed on the development of end-user skills for both systems.

The course also provides learning materials and educational activities that prepare trainees for participation in professional certification exams, with the SAP TS410 and Microsoft Fundamentals certifications initially recommended.

The course structure allows each trainee to choose the subsystem (of both systems) they want to be trained in, after the successful completion of the introductory unit. Note that the final unit is offered only after successfully completing all preceding units.

Learning Goals
After completing the course, the students should be able to:
  • Understand the basic concepts related to ERPs and confidently refer to the fundamental characteristics, functionality, and implementation methods of SAP S/4 HANA & Microsoft Dynamics 365 systems.
  • Navigate in the real environment of SAP S/4 HANA & Microsoft Dynamics 365 and perform basic actions.
  • Understand the data and information managed by each system (SAP S/4 HANA & Microsoft Dynamics 365) for the following subsystems: SD [Sales & Distribution], MM [Material Management], PP [Production Planning], FI [Financials], CO [Controlling], WM [Warehouse Management], EAM [Enterprise Assets Management], HCM [Human Capital Management], WM [Warehouse Management], PS [Project Management], QM [Quality Management].
  • “Run” basic reports per subsystem.
  • Participate in certification exams (optional).
Program Value

An important value of the program is the preparation of participants for certification exams (for both systems) and/or gaining end-user experience (for both systems). Especially for students, participation in SAP certification exams is provided free of charge, and for Microsoft systems, special discounts are offered (depending on the certification choice).

The preparation for the SAP TS410 & Microsoft Fundamentals certifications is strongly recommended by the course's scientific team.

Finally, all participants will be invited to optionally participate in actions, related to the two software companies, organized under the supervision of the scientific coordinator and with the support of his collaborators.

Teaching Material
  • Recorded introductory lecture by the scientific coordinator,
  • Presentations (slides) of theoretical concepts and introductory topics for each subsystem and both ERPs (SAP S/4 HANA & Microsoft Dynamics NAV),
  • User manuals for each subsystem and both ERPs (SAP S/4 HANA & Microsoft Dynamics NAV),
  • Self-assessment exercises with indicative solutions (online tests, transactions in SAP S/4 HANA & Microsoft Dynamics NAV systems),
  • Case studies (with detailed implementation instructions in SAP S/4 HANA & Microsoft Dynamics NAV systems).
Evaluation Method And Final Grade Computation
Each module is graded out of 100 and a passing grade requires a grade of at least 50/100. Scores in the range 50-75 receive the designation 'good', in the range 76-90 receive the designation 'very good' and 91-100 the designation 'excellent'. The final grade of the program is obtained as the Average of sections 1-12 (the last section that concerns the preparation of certifications, solving final questions and repeat study is not graded).
Section Organization
Teaching material and training activities [educational material] are divided into four operational functional areas (excluding sections 1 & 13):
  • Logistics (sections 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 11)
  • Accounting (sections 5, 6, 10)
  • Human Resources (section 9)
  • Reporting System (section 12)
Learning Method Description
The program uses the Blended Learning educational method, so the teaching is partly asynchronous and partly synchronous, as follows:
  • The asynchronous part takes place on days and hours that serve the trainee, exclusively remotely.
  • The modern part is done through teleconferences requiring learning with a strong element of interactivity.
